Your NI number is a unique identifier to track your personal contributions to the UK social security system. It is needed by employers to deduct your taxes, by local authorities to provide financial benefits and for dealings with the Inland Revenue.

Who needs an NI number?

Everybody that is looking to work or study in the UK, is required to get a National Insurance number.

Our service makes it quick and easy to get a National Insurance number, just fill in a few details and we will do the rest!

How long does it take to get a National Insurance?

Using our service it can only take a few weeks rather than several months. Not having a National Insurance number can be costly as you may be put on an emergency tax rate, so its best to get a number as soon as possible.

What documents do you need from me?

Depending on your circumstances you may be required to take an Evidence of Identity interview. You must bring with you identification documents, an account of your work and travel history, and details on how and when you arrived in the UK. Also neccessary would be proof of address, eligibility to work in the UK, and that you are actively seeking work.

Can I get a refund on my National Insurance contributions when I leave the UK?

No, when you leave the UK you are not entitled to any of your contributions. However you are able to transfer these contributions to a overseas private pension fund. It is important that you set up a fund immediately after arriving in the UK as you can only transfer the funds from the last tax year.
